Counseling is the process of helping believers take the next step spiritually in their lives. It can happen almost anywhere. Children are counseled by their parents as they shop at the grocery store, employees are counseled as the are working along side their employers, and so many other ways.

Biblical counseling is something that is accomplished through the power of the Spirit of God in the lives of people as well as the Word of God which is “quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).” Peter wrote in II Peter that, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” which helps us understand that it is God’s Word that is the power behind counseling. Because of this we have everything we need bound up in God’s Word.
